Man kills alcoholic son, caught after cremating body
Nagpur: A man, along with his son, allegedly murdered his alcoholic son, spent the night besides the body, and hurriedly conducted funeral the next day, but Wathoda police got a wind of this high-voltage family crime drama which had unfolded at Samanta Nagar. Police nabbed the father and elder brother of the victim, Mohit Hattimare, at the Dighori crematorium on Friday.
The regional forensic science team collected ash from the funeral pyre and samples of blood stains from the residence where the murder took place.

The Wathoda police also seized the ‘asthi kalash', which the family had arranged to perform the rites. The police decided to send it for forensic examination and DNA testing too.
Police said Mohit used to allegedly harass and assault his family members, especially his 55-year-old father Pandhari, for money to consume liquor. Once, he had even injured his father. Pandhari and his elder son Tushar worked as masons to run the family, while Mohit was jobless, they said.
On Thursday, Mohit picked up a quarrel with his father outside the house demanding money for liquor. The neighbours, who were also troubled by Mohit's frequent ruckus, reportedly witnessed the fracas between the father and the son.
Pandhari, with Tushar's help, allegedly dragged Mohit inside the house before thrashing him with a stick. Mohit, after sustaining an injury to his head, collapsed on the ground. Blood was splattered across the floor and the rooms. After keeping the body at home overnight, the family carried it to Dighori ghat the next day and consigned it to flames. Later, police arrived at the spot after learning about the death and apprehended the father-son duo.
