Pune: Unknown men broke into a flat of a plywood supplier in Nigdi Pradhikaran on Friday night and made off with cash, gold, and silver jewellery collectively worth Rs52.30 lakh.
The theft occurred when the 35-year-old complainant, Rohit Kuchhal, and his family went out for dinner, Nigdi police said.
An officer from the Nigdi police told TOI that the Kuchhal, who runs a plywood supply business, resides in a second-floor flat in a building at Nigdi Pradhikaran.
"On Friday, after closing the shop, the complainant and his family went out for dinner around 7.45pm. When they returned around 9.15pm, they found that the door locks were broken and everything from the cupboards was scattered on the floor," the officer said.
He stated that, according to the complainant, the thieves made off with Rs5 lakh, 1055gm of gold jewellery, 6kg of silver ornaments, two laptops, 10 wristwatches, and a camera, all collectively worth Rs52.3 lakh. "The owner lodged a complaint on Saturday. We have collected CCTV footage from different spots," the officer said.
