Musi river can be revived with just 20k cr, says KTR
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday claimed that the Musi can be rejuvenated with just 20,000 crore as planned by their (BRS) govt. He advised chief minister A Revanth Reddy to follow BRS' plan and to not inflate the project cost. KTR claimed the CM had initially said it would cost 50,000 crore and later revised it to 1.5 lakh crore.
Explaining BRS' Musi plan to counter Revanth's presentation on Thursday, KTR said their govt took various initiatives to clean the river.

"Our govt sanctioned Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) costing 3,800 crore to treat sewage flowing into Musi. With the STPs in various places, Hyderabad would soon become the first city in South Asia with 100% sewage treatment. A plan was unveiled to revive Musi by linking it with Godavari through Kaleshwaram and permanently solve the sewage issue. The BRS sanctioned 15 bridges across Musi ," KTR said at Telangana Bhavan.
He questioned why the govt wanted to spend 141 crore for consultants to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) when designs are ready. KTR alleged the Congress govt was orchestrating the country's biggest corruption scandal by inflating the project cost from 16,800 crore, as planned by the BRS govt, to 1.50 lakh crore under the guise of beautification. He said the BRS govt did not remove 11,000 families in the buffer zone of Musi as it would indirectly displace over one lakh people living in the colonies for 40 to 50 years.
Former minister T Harish Rao said he would accept the challenge by CM Revanth to debate on rehabilitation of Mallanna Sagar and other reservoirs of Kaleshwaram.
