Amritsar: A nagar kirtan was taken out by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to mark the parkash purab of Sikh’s fourth master Guru Ramdas here on Friday. A large number of devotees joined the nagar kirtan and showered flowers during the procession.
800MT paddy lifted in RoparPatiala: Ropar deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain on Friday revealed that 800 MT paddy was lifted in a single day in the district and Rs 69.67 crore has been paid to the farmers under paddy procurement so far.
He said several issues had been resolved and others were also being sorted out. He appealed to all the arhtiyas and rice mill owners to speed up the process of procurement for the convenience of farmers.
FIR against 24 for evading taxLudhiana: Division number 5 police have lodged an FIR against 24 individuals on charges of criminal breach of trust and cheating. The state taxation department accused the individuals of evading taxes through their various firms. Inspector Balwant Singh, SHO at Division number 5 police station said the statements of the accused will be recorded to determine the total loss caused to the department.
Man gets 5-yr jail in snatching caseLudhiana: A local court has sentenced a man to five-year rigorous imprisonment in a snatching case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 11,000 on the convict. On Nov 24 2017, Jamalpur Police booked the accused, Davinder Singh, 26, from Kuliawal in Jamalpur. Complainant Tarsem Singh Jamalpur, said his wife Harjit Kaur was walking to the house at about 8pm when a man on a bike snatched her bag.
