Ludhiana: Staff of the MC building branch, Zone-A launched a drive to seal hotels for violation of building bylaws. When the staff initiated the action, hotel owners started protesting. Further action could not be taken due to political interference.
According to MC sources, the building branch sealed three hotels, but MC employees dispersed when hoteliers started protesting.

The matter reached MLA Madan Lal Bagga, whose intervention led the officials to abandon the action midway.
An inspector of the building branch said that the case of hotels built in violation of rules in the city was pending in high court. According to an estimate, there are 76 hotels in Zone-A, most of which do not have their own parking space.
Also, owners of buildings converted from shops to hotels owe lakhs as composition fees. They have not been paying building fees despite notices. A few of these hotels have been built by converting SCOs.
According to the inspector, a delegation of hotel businessmen requested MLA Madan Lal Bagga and recommended postponement of the action for two days.

In response to the temple vandalism in Secunderabad, Hyderabad police held a meeting with North Zone hotel managers to reinforce compliance with regulations. DCP S Rashmi Perumal emphasized visitor tracking, CCTV installation, and reporting commercial events. Strict actions were warned for illegal activities like prostitution or drug peddling. The meeting followed the arrest related to a workshop at Hotel Metropolis.
