Senior citizen rescued from Kumaradhara River

Mangaluru: A senior citizen who was swept away in the Kumaradhara River near the bathing ghat at Kukke Subramanya was rescued by local residents and temple staff on Friday. The elderly man, who travelled alone from Bengaluru to Kukke Subramanya, entered the river near the ghat, and was soon carried away by the current, said sources.
Alert locals immediately informed the temple staff, who rushed to the scene and helped rescue him.The man, however, was unable to provide clear details about his identity or background, following which Subrahmanya police were informed.
It is learnt that the elderly man was reported missing from Bengaluru about four days earlier.
