Lucknow: Third seed Mansi Singh of Uttar Pradesh went down fighting the top seed Anmol Kharab 21-18, 15-21, 23-25 in an 82-minute encounter in the Yonex Sunrise Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta Memorial All-India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2024 being held at BBD Badminton Academy here. In all, 30 matches of quarter-finals and semi-finals were played on Friday.
In men's singles, second seed Bharat Raghav of Haryana defeated Shankar Saraswat of Rajasthan in straight sets 21-19, 21-12 in the first semi-final and Rahul Bharadwaj of Air India beat Ravi of Haryana 21-18, 19-21, 21-10 in the second semi-final.
In second semifinal, Aditi Rao of Gujarat defeated second seeded Tanvi Sharma of Punjab 21-15, 21-15 and entered the final.
In men's doubles, Tamil Nadu's Santosh Gajendra and Reserve Bank of India's Shivam Sharma defeated Tamil Nadu's Naveen Vallo Lokesh 21-7, 11-21, 21-19 to enter the final. In women's doubles, Karnataka's Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhatt defeated Telangana's Sai Shreya and Rajasthan's Sakshi Phogat to enter the final. In mixed doubles, Arsh Mohammad of Uttar Pradesh and his partner Pragati Parida of Odisha, Ankit Mahajan of Haryana and Anagha Pai of Telangana lost 15-21, 21-17 to enter the final.
Finals will be played on Saturday at 2 pm followed by the prize distribution ceremony at 4 pm in the presence of deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak.
