Hyderabad: Justice B Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Friday suspended the sealing of Hotel Metropolis in Secunderabad.
The judge is reviewing a writ petition filed by Abdul Rashid, the hotel's proprietor. Rashid claims that the police are attempting to implicate him in a crime involving an individual who allegedly attempted to disturb a deity at a local temple.
He contends that this individual stayed at the hotel, leading authorities to seize the premises under the pretext of law and order issue.
Senior counsel L Ravichander, representing the petitioner, argued that the hotel operates with a valid trade license and was hosting a personality development course, for which it had rented out its conference hall and 50 rooms. He characterized the attempt to link the hotel to the incident as an Islamophobic approach.
Ravichander also criticized the police for their actions in forcibly removing guests' luggage from the hotel.
