1.8cr to get free LPG cylinders before Diwali

Lucknow: The state govt has commenced the distribution of free gas cylinders to 1.86 crore beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna ahead of Diwali.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced to distribute free cylinders to beneficiaries under this scheme twice a year, one before Diwali and one before Holi.
Under the Ujjwala Scheme, the Central govt provides a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder to each beneficiary, while the state govt covers the remaining cost of the two free cylinders.Each beneficiary receives a refill of a 14.2 kg cylinder.
This time, the state govt allocated Rs 1,890 crore for the initiative. The number of beneficiaries this time is also higher than last year when 1.85 crore families benefited from the free cylinder scheme.
