Gorakhpur bags top spot in PM Awas scheme

Gorakhpur: Gorakhpur has emerged as the top-performing district in Uttar Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin).
The district, from its 12th spot in Aug, jumped to top spot in the CM's dashboard rankings for Sept with the completion of 99.56% of the approved houses. The district officials credit this success to the guidance of CM Yogi Adityanath.
As per the information department, under the scheme more than 61,000 houses have been constructed in Gorakhpur's rural regions.Chief development officer Sanjay Kumar Meena assured that the remaining houses would also be completed soon.
As per the data for Sept, Gorakhpur has 61,605 registered beneficiaries under the scheme. After geo-tagging, homes were approved, and with an expenditure of Rs 739.38 crore, 61,335 homes have been completed. With this, Gorakhpur has achieved 99.56% completion, securing the top rank in the state. In August, the district was at 12th position. Notably, the progress of the scheme is closely monitored by the Chief Minister's Command Center.
