BRS politicising nat’l security issues: CM
Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy criticised BRS for politicising even national security issues. Regarding the Very Low Frequency (VLF) Navy station being set up at Damagudem, the CM said environmental clearances and compensation payments were completed in 2017 during the BRS govt regime, but now the party is criticising the Congress govt.
"Nearly 3,500 families of defence personnel will reside in the area at the VLF station.
How can it harm the people? Of the 2,900 acres given to the radar station, the construction areas will be only 8 to 10% of it. A similar VLF station was set up in Tamil Nadu in the 1990s, and the location was selected as it is a strategic location for national security," the CM said at a press conference on Thursday.
Regarding BRS working president KT Rama Rao's remarks that the Navy station would become a threat to the Musi River, Revanth questioned the veracity of the claim. He also dismissed the allegations that 12 lakh trees would be removed for the project and said the 12 lakh trees was the estimation for all the projects in the state, and for the Navy radar station the number of trees to be removed would be a few thousand.
