Ghaziabad: A tertiary water treatment plant, constructed by GMC at a cost of Rs 150 crore, is set to be functional by Nov 15. Treated water from this plant will be supplied to over 1,700 industries for non-potable use in the Sahibabad Industrial Area, which the corporation hopes will generate a revenue of Rs 5 crore per month.
GMC commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik said, "The plant is 95% ready, and we hope that by Nov 15, it will be operational.
As of now, water testing is being done, which will undergo in phases. We are in the last phase where water testing is being done in the underground water reservoir."
Initially, 11 MLD of water will be supplied to industries, Singh said, adding that 800 of the more than 1,700 industries have signed the sale/purchase agreements so far. "The rate at which water will be supplied has been fixed at Rs 45 per KLD per month," Singh added.
