Rajkot: A marital discord led to the
murder of a 36-year-old man who intervened to save his sister when her estranged husband tried to attack her in
Porbandar town.
On Friday, the Kirti Mandir police arrested 30-year-old assailant
Naresh for the murder of his brother-in-law, Nitin Rajshi, in the Vankarvaas locality. Naresh's wife, Shobhna, was living with her parents and brother due to his harassment for the past two years, said police.
Devsi Sadiya, 62, the deceased's uncle, lodged a complaint naming Naresh at the Kirti Mandir police station.
Sadiya said that he heard a commotion and Shobhna's screams for help as Naresh barged into their house and tried to attack her with a knife. When Nitin intervened, Naresh started attacking him and left him severely injured.
Nitin was taken to a govt hospital in Porbandar where he died during treatment.
Investigating officer JJ Chaudhary said the knife used in the attack was seized.
