Mumbai: MLA Zeeshan Siddique, son of slain
NCP politician Baba Siddique, met deputy chief minister (DCM)
Devendra Fadnavis on Friday at his official residence in the presence of
Mumbai police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, joint commissioner of crime Lakhmi Gautam and the DCP of the Mumbai crime branch in connection with the murder probe.
Zeeshan reportedly shared information concerning a controversial slum redevelopment project in Bandra East and expressed concerns about potential threats from various individuals involved in the project.
"The DCM met Zeeshan and apprised him of the progress of investigations. Zeeshan has also shared some information, which police are probing," said an official. The official declined to disclose details of the meeting.
According to sources, Zeeshan said that those threats had prompted him to write to the state intelligence department (SID) seeking enhancement of his security. Zeeshan had asked for extra police protection 23 days prior to his father's murder and was provided with Y-plus category security of three gun-wielding police personnel.
Police have sought information about some Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) projects in Bandra East. They are investigating potential illegalities surrounding these projects and believe that these may have played a significant role in Siddique's murder.
Additionally, police have called for the FIR filed by SRA officials, who had previously complained about Zeeshan allegedly obstructing them from conducting a survey related to one of the projects.
