North India to get its Ist Forestry Univ soon
Gorakhpur: Turning Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision into reality, the Gorakhpur forest division is set to establish the north India's first Forestry University in Gorakhpur. A land has been identified for the university near the Jatayu Conservation Centre. This will be the country's second such institution.
The Jatayu Conservation Centre, in Campierganj (Bharivaisi) under the Gorakhpur Forest Division, was set up to conserve the endangered red-headed vultures (Rajgidh).

During the inauguration of the centre on Sept 6, CM Yogi Adityanath had also announced a Forestry College in the region.
A 50-hectare plot adjacent to Jatayu Conservation Centre was identified for the university. The Gorakhpur Forest Division has initiated the process of securing approval from the government for its allocation, said divisional forest officer (DFO) Vikas Yadav. Along with completing the necessary formalities for the university's establishment, a draft of the courses is being prepared by a committee of technical experts. The curriculum will also include degree and diploma courses in agroforestry and social forestry.
