Gurgaon: A large number of people from south
Haryana are set to attend the swearing-in ceremony of chief minister Nayab Singh Saini in
Panchkula on Thursday. The roadways have deployed 2,015 buses to transport attendees from across the state. From the city, nearly 15 buses are making trips, while other districts are sending hundreds of buses. Whereas, Nuh will contribute the fewest, with just 10 buses.
Several ministers from south Haryana, including Rao Narbir Singh, Aarti Rao, and Vipul Goyal, are vying for positions in Saini's cabinet.
The director of roadways has instructed general managers to ensure buses are available from their districts for the ceremony.
Karnal, the home district of former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, will send a maximum of 250 buses. Both Khattar and Saini have represented Karnal in the assembly. Saini contested from the Ladwa constituency in the 2024 assembly elections, while Khattar is serving as the MP for Karnal. Districts of Kaithal and Panipat will each send 160 buses, while Ambala and Kurukshetra will contribute 150 buses each. Hisar will provide 125 buses, and Panchkula, Sonipat, and Yamunagar will each send 100 buses. Other districts, including Bhiwani, Jind, and Sirsa, will send 90, 80, and 80 buses, respectively. Gurgaon, where the
BJP swept all four assembly seats, will send 15 buses, and Nuh will send 10.
The roadway buses will cater to the general public, while private operators have engaged several air-conditioned buses for party workers. MLAs are also arranging SUVs and cars for their supporters.
Union minister
Amit Shah announced Saini as the next CM after meeting with newly elected MLAs in Panchkula on Wednesday. Saini later met with the Governor to stake a claim for forming the govt, accompanied by Shah, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav, Khattar, and Rao Inderjeet Singh. "All arrangements for the ceremony are ready," said Arvind Saini, Haryana BJP's state media in-charge. "This will be the crowning ceremony, with many people participating because it is the people who have made this govt."
Sources indicate that south Haryana is expected to receive adequate representation in Saini's cabinet. Rao Inderjeet Singh, influential in the region's ticket distribution, has played a key role in selecting ministers from there.
