Body of 11-yr-old who got dragged into nullah found
Ponda: The body of 11-year-old Darshan Narvekar, a Class V student who got washed away in a nullah at Tisk-Usgao on Wednesday, was recovered at Ghotmod on Thursday evening after a 17-hour-long joint search operation involving the fire and emergency services, Coast Guard, and police.
Darshan was returning from tuition at Avanti Nagar with his friends when he got washed away while attempting to cross the nullah to get to his home at Sai Nagar.

“His friends tried to save him by pulling him by his school bag, but he was dragged away by strong currents and the bag remained in the hands of his friends,” a witness said.
The incident occurred at around 7pm on Wednesday while the boys were crossing the nullah as usual, when the water level surged suddenly following heavy rainfall. They started losing their foothold, but his friends managed to cross the nullah.
Darshan’s father Santosh passed away two years ago and his mother works as a housemaid. He is survived by his mother and two young sisters.
The Ponda police have registered a case of unnatural death at the Ponda police station under section 194 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
