Prayagraj: Due to the non-availability of examination centres as per revised norms, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (
UPPSC) has postponed the Combined State Senior Subordinate Service, commonly known as PCS, preliminary 2024, scheduled on Oct 27.
Now, this examination is likely to be held on Dec 7 and 8. However, a final decision on the dates will be taken after an online meeting under the chairmanship of chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on Oct 18.
"In the govt order of June 19, 2024, as per the examination calendar of the commission of June 3, the PCS Preliminary Examination-2024 scheduled on Oct 27 stands postponed.
Now, the examination is likely to be conducted by mid-Dec. The candidates will soon be informed through a release regarding the date and schedule of the examination," said controller of examinations of the commission, Harshdev Pandey.
Initially, the exam was held at centres that included unaided educational institutions. However, as per the latest govt guidelines, it can only be held at govt colleges. Now, as the probable exam centres were reduced, the authorities were unable to conduct the exam in one go and therefore proposed to hold it over two days. This move was resisted by the aspirants.
