Friend targets bizman in sextortion, demands Rs25 lakh
Nagpur: A 39-year-old businessman was targeted in a sextortion bid by his childhood friend, who allegedly demanded Rs25 lakh from him. The friend had in the past helped the victim lodge a complaint against an unidentified sextortionist, said police.
Aniruddha Dahake, now booked by the Ajni police, attempted to pose as an ‘unidentified sextortionist' by using the SIM card of wife's friend, said sources.

The woman, who had purchased the SIM, claimed before the police that she had lost the SIM some time ago. Dahake is yet to be arrested.
Sources said the businessman, a divorcee, had escaped being a victim of sextortion after receiving an obscene video of himself in March 2022. Dahake helped the businessman lodge a complaint at the cyber police station. Following the intervention of the cyber police, the businessman stopped receiving extortion messages from the woman who identified herself as ‘Sonam Sharma'.
After two years, the businessman was stunned to receive the same video from yet another unknown number. The businessman approached Dahake for help again, but this time he was reluctant to the extent that he even started abusing and threatening him, raising suspicion. The businessman then approached Ajni police who claimed to have unearthed Dahake's role.
