Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) standing committee on Thursday issued directives to the civic body officials to ensure that there was no problem of drinking water during Diwali.
Devang Dani, the standing committee chairman, announced that in light of the upcoming festivals, the AMC employees will receive their salaries before Diwali, and Class 4 employees will also get a bonus.

To ensure trouble-free Diwali celebrations, instructions were issued for adequate planning on drinking water supply. The committee also ordered daily inspections of the city's food establishments. During the festival season, all bridges and heritage monuments in the city will be illuminated.
The panel also decided that post-Diwali holidays, construction will commence on smart schools in the city's eastern part. Moreover, a waste-to-energy project is set to begin operations in Nov with a capacity to generate 360 MW of electricity every day. It will process 1,000 metric tonnes of waste.
