Married teacher elopes with minor student, held from Amritsar

Rajkot: Nikhil Sevakani, a 29-year-old married teacher and tuition class operator from Anjar was arrested in Amritsar for allegedly enticing a 17-year-old Class 11 student into a romantic relationship and eloping with her. The minor, who was under his custody, was safely returned to her family by authorities. Inspector Ajaysinh Gohil of Anjar police station stated that a case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and POCSO.Through technical surveillance and information from sources, police came to know that he was in Amritsar and dispatched a team to search for the pair in hotels, dhabas, farmhouses and rental properties in and around the city.
Police said Sevakani eloped with the minor, who attended his tuition classes, on Oct 2. Interestingly, the day after he eloped, Sevakani became a father to a daughter from his legal marriage. Investigations revealed that the relationship between the pair started in Feb this year. The minor lived with her aunt in Anjar, while Sevakani ran his tuition class in the city's Ambika Nagar area. Police said he engaged in physical relations with the girl despite being aware of her minor status.
