Patna: With the arrest of 45 people during a raid, the city police busted a gambling den being run from a house under Rupaspur police station area of the state capital on Wednesday. They also recovered cash, several two-wheelers, four-wheelers and a country-made pistol from the possession of the arrested persons.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint raid with the help of SIT, Danapur, Khagaul, and Rupaspur police teams was conducted at the house of
Dheeraj Kumar in Jalalpur Colony under Rupaspur police station area.
“A large-scale gambling racket was being run from Dheeraj’s house. Upon seeing the police, gamblers tried to flee, but the police managed to arrest 45 persons. From those arrested, the police seized 48 cellphones, Rs 7, 10, 000 cash, 14 two-wheelers, nine four-wheelers, a country-made pistol and several other objectionable items,” said Danapur ASP Diksha Bhawre.
The ASP further stated that there was information that Dheeraj's house had become a hub for gamblers for quite some time, and the police acted on it swiftly. “The criminal history of the arrested persons is being verified, and those with such a background will be sent to judicial custody,” she added.
