Jamshedpur: Young voters will decide the fate of candidates in the fray from the six assembly constituencies of East Singhbhum district in the first phase of polling on November 13. Electoral data reports reveal 9,81,307 eligible voters in the 18-39 age group on October 15.
The breakdown includes 83,750 voters aged 18-19 years, 3,95,106 voters aged 20-29 years, and 5,02,451 voters aged 30-39 years.
Moreover, 3,78,884 voters in the 40-49 age group and 2,66,514 voters in the 50-59 age group will exercise their franchise. A total of 1,58,350 voters are registered in the 60-69 age group, 69,535 voters in the 70-79 age group, 16,935 voters in the 80-89 age group, and 2,025 voters in the 90-99 age group.
The district has 37 voters in the 100-109 age category, one in the 109-119 age group, and one in the above 120 age group.
The total number of voters across all age groups is 18,73,589 — 9,33,684 male voters, 9,39,742 female, and 163 third gender. The district also has 2,045 service voters.
Elderly citizens and people with disabilities (PwDs), who are eligible for casting their vote from home, include 823 voters in the above 85 age group category besides 15,945 PwDs.
Among the six assembly constituencies, Jamshedpur (East) and Jamshedpur (West) are urban, while Potka and Jugsalai are a mix of urban and rural segments. Ghatshila and Baharagora are considered rural constituencies, though there has been a noticeable expansion of suburban areas in these two constituencies over the last 15 years.
