Noida: The security supervisor and a teacher were arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl by a daily wager on the campus of a private school on Oct 4.
The accused, who was arrested earlier, allegedly took the junior student to an area out of the school's CCTV coverage and sexually assaulted her. She was taken to a doctor after her parents noticed the child was unusually quiet but complained of pain in the private parts when prodded.
In a complaint lodged at Sector 20 police station on Oct 9, her family said the private doctor who examined the child had alerted them about injuries on her private parts and a possible "molestation by inserting something in her private part".
The child, who later confided in her parents, said a man who handed out plates at their school had "pricked" her private parts, leaving her in pain. The girl refused to go to school in the days following the incident, her parents said.
A senior police officer said the two school officials were arrested because they were trying to withhold crucial information. "We have arrested the two. Further investigation in the case is underway," the officer said.
The child's mother had earlier alleged that a serious security lapse had allowed "a predator to target her daughter twice" and questioned the school management's attitude and response since the incident came to light. The child apparently told the parents that she reported the incident to her class teacher, but was told ‘ghar pe mat batana (don't tell anyone at home)'.
The school principal told TOI the management was not aware of the incident. "When the parents first called the class teacher informing her about the incident and asking her to meet them, she just asked them to come to meet the heads of the school the next day during school hours, as it was already past 4pm and all staffers had gone home. However, by 7 pm the same day, we got a call from police that an FIR has been registered and an investigation launched," she said.
She denied the school had withheld information. "I have spoken to the class teacher. She said the child never mentioned about the incident earlier as well," she added.
