Bengaluru: Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) announced a partnership with Sarla Aviation to create operational models for seven-seater electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The tie-up envisages the use of eVTOL as electric
flying taxis which could dramatically improve travel efficiency. Adrian Schmidt, chief executive and co-founder of Sarla Aviation, said: "Currently, a journey from Indiranagar to the airport can take 1.5 hours — very soon, we will reduce that to just 5 minutes with Sarla's fully electric flying taxis."
He commended the leadership at BIAL, which operates Kempegouda International Airport, for encouraging companies like Sarla to challenge conventional limits and redefine what is possible in air travel.
