Prayagraj: Prayagraj Division of North Central Railway conducted a mock drill regarding the facilities introduced for devotees attending the Maha Kumbh in the city in 2025, at Prayagraj Junction on Thursday.
Led by senior divisional commercial manager Himanshu Shukla, the railway safety team carried out the exercise. During the drill, passengers were informed about the directions they needed to travel to or from, using hoardings and banners and signage at Prayagraj Junction, Prayagraj Chheoki, Subedarganj, and Naini stations.
The staff along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), managed the passengers' movement from the gate to their respective train as per the designated direction.
They also helped the passengers to get to ticket counter, provided them tickets along with information about the train schedule, ensured safe boarding, and proper communication for train departure along with coordination with other departments.
The railway staff was informed about colour coding: Red tickets were for passengers travelling towards Lucknow and Varanasi from Prayagraj Junction, Blue tickets for Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Yellow tickets for Manikpur, Satna, and Jhansi, and Green tickets for Kanpur. This colour coding system was designed to help direct passengers to the correct platform for their respective trains.
Employees were also trained in managing the crowd on platform numbers 7/8, lining them up before boarding to prevent chaos, and coordinating with the control tower by sending messages when passengers reached the platform according to the train's capacity. They were also instructed on how to provide treatment for injured or sick passengers and to tackle with emergency situations and fire.
The employees were taken to the control tower and informed about its functioning, receiving practice in coordination and were briefed on disaster management plan.
