Ajmer: Land at an elevated location near Vivekananda Memorial has been allocated by Ajmer Development Authority (ADA) for Kotra Service Reservoir. A storage tank with a capacity of 30 million litres will be constructed there at a cost of Rs 13.5 crore. It will help alleviate the water crisis faced by nearly 200,000 residents in Ajmer North assembly constituency.

The project was announced in the state Budget following demands raised by Assembly Speaker and Ajmer North MLA Vasudev Devnani. He has been pursuing the implementation of this project and recently instructed various departments to complete the related tasks within a set timeframe.
The water supply department will soon take possession of the land near Vivekananda Memorial and commence construction of the storage tank, said sources. A PHED official said that land allocated for the tank is sufficient for it. The land being at a much higher level than that of Ana Sagar Lake, the project will ensure full-pressure water supply to around 50,000 homes in areas such as Haribhau Upadhyay Nagar, BK Kaul Nagar, Pushkar Road, Patrakar Colony, Maharana Pratap Nagar, Ramnagar, Ganpati Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, and surrounding regions, said officials.
Water will be supplied to this tank from Nasirabad through a specially laid pipeline. This pipeline will be connected to the main line coming from Bisalpur, ensuring direct water supply to the farthest reaches of Ajmer North constituency without any intermediate connections. Due to the project's significant height, pumping of water will require less electricity than usual, said officials.
