Sister of rape survivor demands death penalty, bulldozer action
LUCKNOW: The sister of the rape survivor on Tuesday demanded the death penalty and bulldozer action against the accused. The girl, a Class 7 student, is yet to regain consciousness at Jhalkari Bai Women's Hospital where she was admitted after the assault.
"Women are not safe anywhere," said the elder sister of the victim outside the hospital on Tuesday.
"We only want justice, which in this case means the death penalty and bulldozer action," she said.
As per reports, around 3:30 am, the girl had gone to the fields near her house in the Laulaai area, under the Chinhat police station limits, where she was allegedly raped by three men. They then abandoned her in nearby bushes with her limbs tied.
Although police have rounded up some suspects, the key accused—a minor—remains at large. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Shashank Singh, a case has been registered under sections 64 (1) (rape) of the BNS and 5/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
The DCP stated that the survivor's statement would be recorded before a magistrate and her medical test reports were still awaited. "We have detained several suspects. The prime suspect is reportedly a minor and currently on the run," he said. The police have yet to add charges of gang rape to the FIR.
The family reported that the girl woke up early to get ready for school. "When she didn't return until 4:30 am, I called my brother and cousin, who live nearby, and searched for her for hours. Around 8 am, we decided to look for her in Barabanki and went to a nearby police outpost to report her missing. Around 10:19 am, my brother received a call stating that she had been found," the sister said, adding that the family had evidence to prove the girl was assaulted. "We took her to RMLIMS and informed the police through ‘112.'"

"My sister, who is in no condition to talk, could, however, manage to tell us that the men stuffed her mouth with a piece of cloth, after which she lost consciousness," she said, adding that they were unaware of the assaulters' identities.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad has urged the police to take swift action in the case and arrest all the accused as soon as possible.
