In August 2024, volume of goods exported in Netherlands has fallen by 2.1 per cent year-on-year (YoY), with lower volumes in machinery, petroleum products, and transport equipment. The volume of goods imported decreased by 0.2 per cent relative to August 2023.

According to the Statistics Netherlands (CBS) exports radar for October, conditions for exports are more unfavourable than they were in August. This is mainly since the YoY change in real exchange rates was more unfavourable and producer confidence in Germany deteriorated. The negative export trend persisted through 2023 and 2024.

From January to December 2023, the data for exports of goods (YoY change) in the Dutch showed fluctuations in values, starting with a 4.7 per cent YoY increase in January and dropping to -6.4 per cent YoY in October. The negative trend continued into 2024, beginning with a -5.9 per cent YoY decline in January, reaching -6.2 per cent YoY in February, and fluctuating until a slight recovery of 2 per cent YoY in July, followed by a -2.1 per cent YoY drop in August.
