Panaji: The Goa School Managements’ Association on Wednesday condemned chief minister
Pramod Sawant’s statement at a media briefing after the cabinet meeting, where he said that while state govt has no intention of stopping Balrath buses, new buses will not be provided to new schools under the scheme. Sawant said govt is working to replace old buses and that school managements should maintain the vehicles.
The association’s action committee convener
Prashant Naik said education director Shailesh Zingade confirmed that schools must procure buses through CSR or with their own funds, and that the education department will only cover driver and attendant salaries and grants for diesel.
Naik also said the CM had lied to Goans when he declared that school vacancies are only offered on a contract basis when class sizes fall below the required numbers.
“I can produce hundreds of examples where the schools are sanctioned contractual posts, despite being eligible for full-time regular positions, as they meet the criteria set by education rules. Let the CM give us a date and time to come up with the details, and we will present the required data,” he said.
