Traffic resumes as rainwater recedes in Chennai subways, 5 still remain closed

Chennai has seen water start to recede in many subways, allowing traffic to resume in 16 subways. However, five subways remain closed due to waterlogging. Additionally, slow vehicular movement persists on several major roads in the city due to remaining water stagnation.

CHENNAI: After Chennai witnessed hardly any fresh spell of rain since Tuesday night, water started receding in many subways, and traffic resumed in almost 16 subways in the city.
However, five other subways are still waterlogged, and these stretches remained closed for vehicular traffic.
As per the release by the city police, the subways at Sundaram Point, Ganesapuram Subway, CB Road Subway, Rangarajapuram Subway, and MRTS Subway remained closed as these subways have two- or 2.5-feet deep water stagnated there.

The release also stated that there was slow vehicular movement on Millers Road, Periyar Pathai, MGR Salai, Mettukulam, Mettukulam ‘B’ Road, Koyambedu Market, Pulianthope AC Road, Poonamallee High Road, Anjaneyar Koil Street, and Mettupalayam.
Vehicles are not allowed to proceed between Fire Service ‘E’ Road and ‘B’ Road junction to Mettukulam due to waterlogging on both sides.
