‘No MCD nod for work at 6 Flagstaff Rd’
New Delhi: Delhi BJP recently wrote to MCD commissioner Ashwani Kumar and alleged unauthorised construction and amalgamation at 6 Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor alleged that Public Works Department made changes at the former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's previous residence without approval from either the civic body or Delhi Urban Art Commission.

In a letter to the commissioner written on Oct 14, Kapoor urged an immediate visit and requested that "the reconstructed bungalow be booked under sections 343 and 344 of the DMC Act, and a sealing notice issued under 345A."
"According to the MPD 2021, Civil Lines is a heritage conservation area where reconstruction or amalgamation of properties cannot be undertaken without prior approval," claimed Kapoor.
The BJP functionary further alleged that PWD had sought permission from DUAC in 2020-21 for the reconstruction, but the approval was not granted. "Despite this, PWD went ahead with the illegal construction, including amalgamation and the unauthorised construction of a swimming pool at 6 Flagstaff Road. Moreover, there are around a dozen semi-permanent porta and tin sheds of different sizes illegally put up at the complex, which need to be demolished too," Kapoor stated in the letter. No comment was received from AAP and MCD on this matter.
Earlier, the leader of the opposition in Delhi assembly, Vijender Gupta, also wrote to CVC and sought a probe into the alleged irregularities in the renovation works.
