NEW DELHI: A teenager was killed and another seriously injured in a clash between two groups after the immersion procession of Goddess Durga in Odisha's Nabarangpur district, police reported.
The incident occurred around 10 PM on Monday near the Nabarangpur municipality office, following the procession's conclusion.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Krushna Chandra Bhatra explained that the conflict resulted in two minors being stabbed.
The police swiftly responded and transported the injured teenagers to the Nabarangpur district headquarters hospital. One of the teens succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while the other is still receiving medical care.
The exact motive behind the clash is still unclear. However, authorities believe it might have been due to tensions during the procession. "We have detained seven to eight suspects in connection with this case and further investigation is ongoing," stated the SDPO.
