Alia Bhatt’s Jigra faces downtrend earnings at the box office amidst rising controversies

Fans’ hopes were not met by Alia Bhatt’s 2024 solo debut. On weekdays, the movie has not been doing well at the box office and has not shown any indications of improving.

As per the most recent report, on its first Tuesday, Jigra slowed down even more. The movie has not yet reached the ₹20 crore milestone. With ₹4.55 crore, the movie had the lowest opening for an Alia Bhatt picture in a decade. It made ₹6.55 crore on its second day of operations. With ₹5.5 crore, day three earnings showed a slight decline. Monday’s earnings dropped significantly to ₹1.65 crore. After five days, Jigra has now raised ₹19.85 crore, taking into consideration day five collections.

The escape thriller, which also stars Vedang Raina and Manoj Pahwa, is co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Alia and her sister Shaheen Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions. Alia portrays a young woman named Satya Anand in Jigra, who fights to free her tormented brother Ankur Anand from a foreign prison. After Ankur receives a death sentence, Satya promises to free him from prison.

Numerous controversy have surrounded the movie since it was released. Divya Khossla Kumar, an actor and filmmaker, recently said that the movie’s narrative was similar to that of her previous film, Savi. She also claimed that Alia had manipulated Jigra’s box office results. In the meantime, Manipuri-based performer Bujou Thaangjam charged Jigra’s casting crew with acting impolitely. The actor claims that although he was asked to be available in December to come on board for the film, he never heard back.
