Govt to set up more corpns to woo grps, total over 50 now
Mumbai: The state govt on Monday announced another set of new state-run corporations set up to woo communities and castes ahead of polls. This takes the total number of new corporations set up by the Mahayuti govt in the recent past to over 50.
Among the corporations is one for the Agri community. A decision was also taken to form a study group for Annasaheb Jawle Marathwada Development Corporation.

Through this corporation, various schemes will be implemented for Maratha youths for industry jobs and self-employment.
Last week, the state govt had announced that corporations would be set up for Shimpi (tailor), Gawli, Ladsakhiya Vani, Lohar (blacksmith) and Nath Panthiya communities. It was also decided to set up independent corporations for journalists and newspaper vendors in the state. Besides, the state had approved the establishment of Nagnath Anna Nayakawadi Project Victims Rehabilitation and Development Corporation for rehabilitation of those affected by public projects in the state.
"Sola Kulswamini Economic Development Corporation will be set up for Ladsakhiya Vani community, Bahmalin Acharya Divyanand Puriji Maharaj Economic Development Corporation for Lohar community, Sant Namdev Maharaj Economic Development Corporation for Shimpi community, and Shri Krishna Economic Development Corporation for Gawli community. A share capital of Rs 50 crore will be provided for these corporations," said an official.
Last month, the state cabinet had approved the setting up of a Minority Economic Development Corporation for the Jain community, a new corporation for the welfare of inland water reservoir fishermen, and a Sea Fishermen Welfare Corporation. Economic development corporations for Bari, Teli, Hindu Khatik and Lonari communities were also announced.
Govt also approved a subsidy scheme of up to Rs 1 lakh for cultural and educational institutions of the Buddhist community and an increase in subsidy under Ramai Awas and Shabari Awas Yojana.
