LUCKNOW: Tensions flared once again in Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, following a violent clash during a
Durga idol immersion in Mahasi on Sunday.
The violence erupted when the procession passed through a Muslim-majority area, sparking an argument.
The situation worsened when a devotee Ram Gopal Verma was killed during the clash. A post-mortem revealed over 30 pellet injuries to his chest.
As the unrest escalated, vehicles were set ablaze, and several people were injured.
In response, chief minister
Yogi Adityanath ordered strict action and increased security in the area to restore peace.
