AGP president Atul Bora, addressing the large gathering, made a passionate declaration of the party’s dedication to regional interests.
“For four decades, AGP has been the voice of Assam’s unique identity and aspirations. Today, we renew our pledge to keep the flag of regionalism flying high in our beloved state. I seek the blessings of the people of Assam so that we can continue to serve the party and our motherland with new zeal and vigour in the coming days. The youth of Assam are our future and we are committed to addressing their concerns and aspirations,” Bora said addressing the gathering.
AGP, a key ally in the BJP-led coalition govt in Assam, has often walked a tightrope between regional aspirations and national politics. Reflecting on the party’s journey, AGP working president Keshab Mahanta said, “AGP was born out of a movement to protect Assam’s interests. Forty years on, our resolve remains as strong as ever. We continue to be the bridge between the aspirations of our people and the corridors of power. The AGP’s mission is to ensure that Assam marches towards prosperity without losing its soul.”
Veteran leaders, including Phani Bhushan Choudhury and Birendra Prasad Baishya, also addressed the gathering. They shared memories of their association with the party and recounted the AGP’s struggles over the years.
