And that is the last action of the match as the referee blows the whistle for full time. Scotland ends its four-match losing streak after holding Ronaldo to a frustrating draw. 

Ronaldo seems visibly angry as he storms off the field and into the changing room.

The game is being played in Scotland’s half. A cross is played into the box which falls to Leao. He takes a touch and his shot is blocked by a brilliant effort from substitute Devlin.

Leao gets the ball inside the box. He cuts it back for Fernandes who forces a brilliant save from Gordon with his shot.

Portugal: Vitinha and Cancelo are replaced by Felix and Semedo

Scotland: Ralston is replaced by Nicky Devlin

Leao plays the ball to Vitinha on the edge of the box. The youngster takes a look and tries to fire it into the far corner, but the Scotland defence does well to block the shot.

Scotland: Adams is replaced by Lyndon Dykes

Great chance for Ronaldo. A cross comes in from the right from Cancelo which is brought down by Ronaldo. He fakes a shot before firing the ball wide of the right post.

Portugal is looking for a winner as the players pass the ball around in Scotland’s half. 

Chance again. Ralston with a brilliant down the right with acres of space ahead of him. He plays a ball into the box for McTominay who does not reach it in time.

Big chance for Scotland. Che Adams plays the ball to Morgan on the right. The substitute puts a cross into the middle which is headed down by Adams. McTominay takes a swing at it but misses the ball. 

The Portugal defence does well to clear the ball away.

The play is briefly interrupted as the crowd throws a ball onto the pitch. Ronaldo waves his arms at the crowd as loud boos are heard. 

Bernardo Silva lays the ball off to Cancelo on the right. The fullback puts in a cross which is easily dealt with by the Scottish defense. 

Scotland: Doak and Christie are replaced by Lewis Morgan and Ryan Gauld.

Scotland is on the break but Mendes does well to win a foul after holding off Christie. 

Portugal: Jota, Palhinha, and Conceicao are repleced by Rafael Leao, Ruben Neves and Bernardo Silva

Conceicao is looking lively on the right. He drives into the box and wins his side a corner. Fernandes takes it but ends up hitting it straight into the right post.

Mendes drives into the box from the left and the ball seems to have gone out. Ronaldo puts it in the net just in case, but replays show the ball had gone out.

Robertson with a curling cross in from the left which goes just past every player inside the box. Mendes stops the play after winning a foul near the corner flag.

Ronaldo is on the assisting end this time. Conceicao gets the pass from the Portugal captain inside the box but his shot ends up going way above the bar.

Palhinha is shown a yellow for an attack-stopping foul on Doak.

Portugal on the break with Jota getting into the box from the left. He plays the ball to Ronaldo who is unmarked in the box. He gets his head on the ball but ends up sending it over the bar.

No changes for either side at the break as both sides exchange possession with long balls out front.

Portugal kicks off the second half, shooting from left to right.

No time added to the first half as the referee blows the whistle for half time.

Conceicao and Vitinha combine on the right side of the box and the latter plays a cross into the middle. Ralston does well to get himself up and head the ball away from Ronaldo. 

Vitinha lays off the ball to Ronaldo on the left side of the box. Ronaldo goes for a first time shot but ends up shooting it off target.

Fernandes puts the ball into the box for Mendes. He lays it off to Jota, whose attempt is blocked by the Scottish defence.

Cancelo puts in a cross for Ronaldo in the box. Souttar does well to mark the Portugal captain and clear the ball away.

Scotland has done really well in stopping Portugal in its tracks for the opening half hour. Cancelo whips in a cross from the right and the ball is headed back into the middle by Jota.

Ronaldo foes for the spectacular but the ball goes out for a goal kick.

McTominay is shown a yellow for a bad challenge on Fernandes. Ronaldo and Mendes stands over the freekick and give away the ball to Scotland after a failed quick restart.

Mendes with another freekick, this time from the right. He goes for goal and forces a good save from Gordon.

Freekick for Portugal on the left side of the field after Mendes is once again brought down by Christie. Mendes whips in the freekick, which goes past everyone in the box. 

Roberto Martinez is furious on the touchline after seeing Mendes brought down by Christie. The Portugal manager is asking for a yellow but the referee says no. 

Jota goes into the book for a bad challenge on Christie. 

Cancelo puts in a cross from the left with the outside of his boot. The ball is cleared away and Robertson does well to put his body on the line to block Cancelo’s rebound attempt.

A corner is played short by Portugal. But the Scottish defence does well to read the play and clear the ball away from danger.

A cross comes in from the left for Jota inside the box. He goes down claiming that he was held but the referee says no penalty.

Ronaldo gets the ball in a shooting position and takes a shot with his left from outside the box. Gordon makes a standard save to his left. 

Scotland is playing around the back but McTominay ends up giving away possession.

Huge chance for Scotland. Scotland takes a freekick early and the ball falls to Doak on the left. He lays it to Robertson who whips in a cross to the middle. McTominay has a free header but ends up shooting the ball at Costa.

A slow start to the match as Portugal passes the ball around with loud boos coming from the crowd every time Ronaldo touches the ball.

UEFA Nations League: Ronaldo termed ‘unique’ by Portugal boss Martinez ahead of Scotland clash

Portugal has won all three of its games in Nations League Group A1, and three more points in Glasgow will edge it to the brink of securing qualification for March’s quarterfinals.

Portugal coach Roberto Martinez hailed his squad’s improved depth, competitiveness, and preparation following its Euro 2024 quarterfinal exit.

Portugal strolled past Poland on Saturday to maintain its perfect Nations League start and will hope to close out this international break with a positive result against struggling Scotland.

Portugal dominated Poland as Bernardo Silva and Cristiano Ronaldo put the visitor 2-0 up at the break. Poland midfielder Piotr Zielinski pulled a goal back, but Jan Bednarek’s own goal made it 3-1 to the visitor.

Portugal exited the European Championship in a penalty shootout defeat to France in the quarter-finals, but Martinez said its focus was now firmly on building towards the World Cup in 2026.

Portugal continues to set the pace in League A Group One with nine points, three points clear of Croatia while Scotland is languishing at the bottom with three defeats in three.
