Hyderabad: The members of
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), United Students' Federation of India (USFI), and All India Students' Federation (AISF) on Monday demanded that the state govt clear the pending fee reimbursement and scholarship amount of about 7,500 crore. They said the state should hold talks with private college managements.
"Despite completing their course, managements are refusing to issue certificates to students as they are yet to get the fee reimbursement amount from the govt.
Managements claim that they are unable to run colleges without getting fee reimbursement dues. Between the govt and managements, students are suffering and are losing opportunities to go for higher education or secure jobs," said ABVP state secretary Chintakayala Jhansi, adding that if the state fails to release dues immediately, they will launch massive protests across the state.
The student organisations said that the negligence of the govt in releasing dues is affecting the livelihood of faculty as well. "Why is the govt, which spends crores of rupees on various schemes, reluctant to release fee reimbursement and scholarship dues? Colleges are shutting down, and faculty and students are suffering because of its negligence," said USFI state president T Ravi. The association also extended its support to the strike organised by degree and PG college managements over this issue.
Members of SFI also said the state should call degree and PG college managements for talks so that poor students are not deprived of education.
State should call degree & PG college managements for talks and ensure that classes are held as per schedule so poor students are not deprived of education, said SFI members
