New Delhi: A day after a petrol pump manager was shot at during a
robbery bid of Rs 40 lakh near a petrol pump in Gokalpuri, police arrested two people in the case.
The incident took place around 10.30 am on Monday. The pump manager, Ravinder Pal Singh, was shot in the left arm when he was on his way to a bank to deposit the cash.
A police officer said that two fuel station employees, including Singh, were walking to the bank, which was approximately 50 metres away.
Suddenly, two men arrived on a motorcycle. The duo demanded that the employees hand them over the bag with the cash. When the employees resisted, they tried to forcibly take it. During the ensuing struggle, the pillion rider fired at Singh. Both the men, however, panicked and fled without the bag. "In a desperate attempt to flee, they even left the firearm behind," the officer added.
Deputy commissioner of police (Shahdara) Rakesh Paweriya said they nabbed two suspects identified as Satender (45) and Rahul Kashyap (39). Inquiry revealed that the bike in which the duo arrived was found to be stolen from GTB Enclave. "Satender was an accused in 12 cases, including murder, robbery, and violations of the Arms Act. The other accused was involved in seven cases," he stated.
"An ex-employee at the petrol pump provided information to the accused regarding the cash. Efforts are on to nab him," the DCP added. TNN
