The move aims to provide legal assistance to complainants, accused, and arrested individuals. These volunteers are working to resolve various disputes, including marital issues, through conciliation.
Arti Kumari, a PLV stationed at Khelgoan police station, said, "I met a middle-aged woman who came with a complaint against her husband. She said her husband regularly beat her up after drinking alcohol. I counselled the husband to treat her wife well and the latter withdrew her complaint."
Pandey encouraged the PLVs to work in public interest, assisting individuals, who visit police stations, in writing complaints and informing them about laws and free legal aid provided by Jhalsa. He emphasized importance of PLVs informing people about the National Legal Service Authority's toll-free number, 15100, for accessing free legal aid.
Ranchi DLSA secretary Kamlesh Behra said, "PLVs must listen to problems faced by people coming to PSs and submit it in writing to DLSA which would take steps to address the issues."
