Over one lakh students in the state benefit from this scheme.
Currently, the courses covered under the scheme include medicine, engineering, architecture, pharmacy, and agriculture. While students enrolled in govt-run, aided, partially aided, and private colleges get the benefit, those admitted to private deemed universities and self-financed universities are excluded.
Roshni Jadhav, a beneficiary of the scholarship scheme, said, "The govt system is too slow when it comes to covering the courses under the scholarships. Every new course approval by the AICTE should automatically be covered under any scholarship scheme. This process of approval from govt is highly time-consuming."
The master of human capital management and employee relations course has been made part of the scholarship. The decision to add the course was taken after principal secretary (higher and technical education), Vikas Rastogi, convened a meeting on Oct 9.
