Pune: A 52-year-old mini-truck driver was arrested by the Chakan police on Saturday on the charge of abusing a traffic police personnel.
The incident occurred on Friday evening at Talegaon Chowk in Chakan when the constable was instructing the driver not to stop his vehicle on the road as it was causing inconvenience to other motorists.
The driver has been identified as Jasar Shaikh, a resident of Chikhali.
The complaint against Shaikh was lodged by constable Shankar Bangar (42) who is attached to the Chakan traffic division.
When contacted, Bangar said, "I first told him (Shaikh) to move his vehicle, but he did not listen. Following this, I started clicking photographs of his vehicle to issue a challan. This is when Shaikh got out of his vehicle and started abusing me. He also pushed me, that damaged my nameplate and broke my glasses."
