Will not rest until Maha put back on track: Sharad Pawar
Kolhapur: Sharad Pawar, speaking at an event in Phaltan on Monday, said though he has turned 86, he will not rest till the time he brings Maharashtra back on track.
"I was elected 14 times, seven times to the assembly and seven times to Parliament. I was chief minister four times. I am not contesting elections any more. However, the one thing I want to do is to change the face of Maharashtra," Pawar said.
Targeting the state govt over its Ladki Bahin scheme, the NCP (SCP) supremo said every brother feels happy if his sisters are honoured.
1x1 polls
"Those in power did not remember their sisters in the past 10 years. Devendra Fadnavis was CM for five years. State govt remembered the sisters only after MVA won 31 of 48 seats in recent Lok Sabha polls. On one side, govt is honouring sisters, but on the other, every day, we find assaults on women and girls. In Badlapur, there was delay in taking action. An ex-minister was recently shot. Does the state have any law and order?" he asked.
At the event, Deepak Chavan, NCP's sitting MLA, party's district chief Sanjeevraje Naik Nimbalkar and family members of senior NCP neta Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar, joined the Sharad Pawar faction.
