Mangaluru: The 102nd Shri Sharada Mahotsava at Shri Venkataramana Temple Acharya Mutt concluded on a colourful note on Monday. The Shri Sharada Mahotsava Committee celebrated the centenary Sharada Mahotsava two years ago with great splendour. Devotees from various parts of the city and beyond contributed to making the festival more vibrant this year.
Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji of Chitrapur Mutt offered the Maha Mangalarati to the Sharada idol before the commencement of a procession for immersion on Monday. The procession passed through Mahamayi Temple, Canara High School, Navabharath Circle, Dongerkery, New Chitra Talkies, Basavanagudi, Chamaragalli, and Rathabeedi, before culminating at Mahamayi Theertha. Various art and cultural troupes presented programmes during the procession.
The Sharada idol was installed on Oct 9. Rangapuja with Deepalankara were offered. A special decoration for Shri Kalika Devi was performed, and the Vidyarambha ceremony, wherein children are initiated into learning, was also held on Sunday. Thousands of devotees participated in the special Deepalankara puja offered on Sunday evening.
Temple committee president Umananda Mallya, secretary Adige Balakrishna Shenoy, Pandit Narasimha Acharya, and others were present.
