Madikeri: Preparations are in full swing at Talacauvery and Bhagamandala temples ahead of the Cauvery Tula Sankramana on Oct 17. The sacrosanct event will be witnessed at 7.40am.
Rituals have commenced at the temples. ADC Aishwarya visited the temples on Monday to review them. Barricades have been placed across the temple premises to ensure the safety of the devotees.
"The district administration is ensuring that all the facilities are provided for the devotees. The devotees visiting the temples during the festival must cooperate with the administration," Aishwarya said.
The festival is likely to witness more devotees this year as the sacrosanct event of holy water gushing from the ‘kundike' will take place during the morning hours. The route from Bhagamandala to Talacauvery is being lit up, and galleries are being raised. Over 50 CCTV cameras are being placed in the temple premises.
Sources confirmed that a public transport facility will be arranged from Bhagamandala to Talacauvery on Oct 17. High-mast lights and other facilities, including drinking water and toilets, will be arranged.
Authorities said they will enforce a ban on the use of plastic during the festival. Devotees are banned from carrying plastic cans. Over 50 volunteers will help devotees access holy water.
Meanwhile, cultural programmes will be hosted by the Kannada and cultural department from Oct 16, even as the rituals will be led by priests Harish Bhat and Ravi Bhat.
