“As of today, monsoon has started withdrawal from west Assam’s Dhubri and Tura in Meghalaya. In the next two days, monsoon is expected to withdraw from the rest of the northeast region,” Roy told TOI on Sunday.
An IMD release said the southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from the remaining parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, the entire West Bengal and Sikkim, some more parts of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, many parts of Odisha, and some parts of Assam, Meghalaya and northwest Bay of Bengal.
While several parts of the northeast experienced rainfall in the last few days during Durga Puja festivities, the Met office on Sunday said no significant rainfall is likely over the region during this week. However, the Regional Meteorological Centre of IMD reported that light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. Additionally, light rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura on Monday.

Professor Rajib Lochan Deka of the agricultural meteorology department of Assam Agricultural University said while the total quantity of overall monsoon rainfall during the last four and a half months in most the northeastern has remained mostly unchanged, the variation in month-wise distribution may impact paddy cultivation.
