Slain Panthic leader’s kin say he got ‘threats’
Bathinda: Four days after he was killed, the family of Panthic leader Gurpreet Singh has said he had received threats, but it is still not clear if the killing was carried out on the directions of those who were behind the threats. The family has also said neither will it go for autopsy nor would it perform the last rites.
Gurpreet, a resident of Hari Nau village in Punjab’s Faridkot district, was shot dead by two bike-borne persons on Wednesday.

Two unidentified persons had fired at him on Oct 9 in Hari Nau village when he was returning home on a motorbike. Gurpreet was declared dead after some time.
Gurpreet, who was associated with Waris Punjab De and Behbal Insan Morcha, had regularly raised voice for justice in the acts of sacrilege. His family members have said that killing has nothing to do with the panchayat elections as some efforts are being made to set the “wrong narrative”.
Gurpreet’s cousin Sukhpreet Singh, accompanied by Behbal Kalan firing victim Krishan Bhagwan Singh’s son Sukhraj Singh, told mediapersons, “ The killing has nothing to do with panchayat elections as is being claimed in some posts in the social media.” TNN
