Ludhiana: A bullet hit the parked car of district
Congress president and former legislator Sanjay Talwar outside his Janpath Estate home near South City, shattering the backseat window and prompting the Sarabha Nagar police to launch an investigation on Saturday after this overnight incident.
Talwar’s driver and gunmen discovered the incident in the morning when they noticed the damaged window and, later, found a bullet lodged inside the car.
Talwar expressed surprise, stating: “I have no known rivalry or threats. The cops are investigating whether it was a targeted attack or an accidental discharge.”
Inspector Neeraj Chaudhary, station house officer (SHO) of Sarabha Nagar, said CCTV footage from the area showed no suspicious entries. Preliminary investigations suggest the shot may have come from a nearby farmhouse, and that it was fired in the air possibly. Police suspect that a .315-bore gun was used and are searching homes in the vicinity for clues.
The authorities concerned are also probing whether a nearby party or wedding on Friday could have led to the accidental discharge. In the evening, Ludhiana MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring visited Talwar. Raising concern over the law and order situation, Warring said that if a leader was not safe, then would should the common people expect from the govt and their police.
