2 electrocuted in Pratapgarh village
Prayagraj: Two persons were electrocuted to death, and three others sustained injuries when the vehicle carrying them during the immersion of the idol of Goddess Durga procession came into contact with a high-tension wire at village Purwa Shivgarh Turri, under the limits of Maheshganj Police Station of Pratapgarh district on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Ranjeet Kumar Saroj (36) and Arun Singh (46), were residents of Badgava village.

The injured, including Ram Sajivan (45), Diwakar (19), and Sunil alias Pitunni (22), residents of Mahecha Hardo Patti, were admitted to the district hospital, Pratapgarh, for treatment.
Police said a group of villagers were taking an idol of Goddess Durga for immersion on a vehicle. While two people were sitting on the roof of the vehicle, three others were sitting on its platform.
The vehicle, somehow, came into contact with a broken electric wire, leaving all five people injured. The incident created a ruckus, and locals informed the local police. The police took all five people to Maheshganj CHC, but doctors referred them to the district hospital Pratapgarh.
Two of the victims died during the treatment.
